Create A Change Now Hosts Third Annual Edible Education Dinner on October 7

Mayor Carolyn Goodman kicks off the evening at the upcoming Edible Education by presenting a proclamation to Create A Change Now for commencing the work that is being done here locally to tackle childhood and guest speaker Dr. Evan Allen brings awareness of childhood obesity in our youth and inspires others to spread the seeds of change in our community.

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness month; with awareness comes change. Local charity Create A Change Now is teaching at-risk students to plant, grow and cook fresh, healthy meals in order to prevent childhood obesity. They are preparing to host their third annual Edible Education Dinner at Panevino Ristorante on Saturday, October 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This year Create a Change Now will be receiving a Proclamation from Mayor Carolyn Goodman commencing the work that is being done here locally to tackle Childhood Obesity.  Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the organization’s mission and their Healthy School, Healthy Life program.

“Edible education is something that appeals to people of all ages. Being able to offer insight and knowledge to our community about healthy eating habits, and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle is so rewarding,” said Create a Change Now’s Executive Director, Melissa Blynn.

The four-course dinner event will also feature live entertainment from the Vanessa Chamberlin Band, and a guest presentation by Dr. Allen from the Wellness & Medical Center as he discusses the childhood obesity epidemic in America and the importance of plant based nutrition education in our local schools to help with decreasing health related diseases.

Guests will have the opportunity to bid on a variety of silent auction items including a trip to  Disneyland  with a family-pack, health & wellness opportunities and an array of local hotel-casino stays.

Seeds of Change sponsors for this year’s dinner include Southwest Medical, Brown and Brown Insurance, Southwest Gas Corporation, Urban Seed Foundation, Wells Fargo The Private Bank

Tickets to the Edible Education dinner start at $175 (plus taxes and applicable fees) and are available now at https://one.bidpal.net/createachangenow/ticketing.

About Create a Change Now

Create A Change Now (CACN) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is committed to empowering educators through training by providing the necessary resources so they may help children and families fight childhood obesity and related diseases, in order to live healthier, more productive lives. CACN accomplishes its mission by adopting at-risk elementary schools and installing our Healthy School, Healthy Life programming.  We utilize an Edible Desert Garden in the school, and then uses it as a hub in which we plant seeds of change within each child.
