Grille620 / River Hill Grill Takes the Title of 2017 Mason Dixon Master Chef Champions

Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament Concludes Seventh Season

A sold out crowd gathered this past Sunday at Point South Latin Kitchen ( to cheer on the final two contestants in The Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament. The Tournament began back in early June with 16 chef teams and 15 matches ahead of them in this summer-long bracket-style single-elimination culinary competition.
The final two teams from Grille620 / River Hill Grill and The Inn at Brookeville Farms competed in Battle Royale for close to $10,000 in cash and prizes. While expert judges Mitchell Platt (The COSMOS Club in Washington, DC), Chef Marc Dixon (Bond Street Social and Barcocino), and Chef Taueret Thomas (Khepera’s Kitchen)  said both teams performed exceptionally, in the end only one team can win. This year, Grille620’s team (Executive Chef Fabio Mura, Sous Chef Karen Herlihy and Sous Chef Colin Dixon) took that win and are now the 2017 Mason Dixon Master Chef Champions!
Also in attendance Sunday night were representatives from the Tournament’s charity partner Meals on Wheels of Central of Maryland(, who were the recipients of a cash donation of over $2,000.00 from the Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament. The Tournament donates 10% of all ticket and merchandise sales to charity each year, and to date has given close to $20,000 to local food charities.
